Ode to my Bed

Magic velvet carpet
Portal to the unconscious
Of stories that I barely recall.

Thrown of cotton, wood, satin
you catch my body
as it surrenders to your warm majesty

I stir at dawn.
Arms and legs wrapped in your
Rectangled-up sheets

Disgruntled,
I dive into your safe feathers
escaping morning’s harsh flashes.

Oh sacred bed
How I never want to leave.
Though I neglect to arrange you.
I hide things under you.
I drape scarves and bags over your high pillars

Still, you so faithfully wait for me all day
to return to your snug embrace.

In you, temple of plush,
I confide my deepest thoughts.
My bed, my sanctuary.
